After regenerating River still believes her name is Melody, has no clue who she is to become, and is convinced that the Doctor's life is no longer worth living. She even tries to shoot the Doctor with a banana. Lets be honest when you try to kill Hitler and end up saving his life instead: time travel, you're doing it wrong.
